Our Story

August 2025 – A second product launch for 2025, the Stockade Rapid Reference Cards for horses and alpacas.  The general Rapid Reference Cards provide key information at a glance, while the Breeding Rapid Reference Cards include reusable circular calendars to track mare or hembra oestrus cycles and gestation milestones, specifically made for the southern hemisphere.

January 2025 – The Big Tow and Little Tow, together the Stockade Towing System is launched onto the market to aid in moving the already highly mobile Stockade Hay Caddies around. This helps save your time and legs for things like horse riding.

October 2024 – The Hairy Canary is launched as a side product that provides a tidy use for all that hair we brush out of our horses each spring and helps the birdlife out.

May 2023 – Stockade has now launched another product, the Stockade Hay Trolley.

October 2022 – After just over two months of trading sales were made for each of the launch products, attended the first field days as an exhibitor, and started developing the next product. Phew!

1 August 2022 – After many delays for many reasons, I finally launched the Stockade Hay Caddy, the Stockade Horsie D’oeuvre and the Twine Ring Knife as our first products.

2022 – Finally launching on 1 August 2022 – that’s Horses Birthday for those not in the know.

2020 – Then the pandemic happened and, not wanting to go through the chaotic process of launching a new business in the midst of the chaos of a pandemic, I decided to wait until things settled down.

2019 – While action was still underway to launch the Stockade Hay Trolley for round bales and halved large square bales, the Stockade Hay Caddy for small bales was going on trial to hopefully launch onto the market before the end of the year.

2018 – An initial order of five Stockade Hay Trollies was placed and filled. These trollies were placed with various stock managers on a trial basis with the intent of them providing feedback on the value and viability of launching the Stockade Hay Trolley as a marketable product.

2017 – After encountering many barriers in developing the small bale slow feeder to a viable product, focus shifted to large bale feeders. With the help of a friendly fabricator the first purpose built prototype was built and minor modifications were made before the first Stockade Hay Trollies were produced.

2016 – Through many iterations of the small bale slow feeder it was recognized that there was a hole in the market, with very few products having been developed for the small acreage environment. This resulted in many brainstorming sessions in which potential products that probably should have been available years ago were identified, but no one seemed to have recognized the need for them.

2015 – Needing to work full time in order to have enough cash to keep my horses to the high standard that they were accustomed to, I built my first small bale slow feeder to aid in both time management and horse health.
